Because of global warming, a lot inhabitants of island in low altitudes,in Pacific, had to leave their home because the increasing of sea level.

That the glaciers`melting has serious consequences for many species such as polar bears. A new scientific study shows for the first time in significant numbers, these mammals are dying drowned, because they need swim long distances to “land”.

After the passage of Hurricane Katrina in USA, on Juny 31st, 2005, a search of Massachussets Institute Technology (MIT), has reported the scientific consensus that global warming makes hurricane more powerful and destructives.

Waves of heat are increasilying powerful in the world, according with scientists, they will be even more intense. In summer of 2003, Europe experienced a stronger wave of heat and had 35 thousands people died.

If we don`t face the challenge of global warming, about 40% of the world population, could face serious problems because the lack of drinking water. Currently over 1 million people don`t have access to this resource.

Several countries in Africa and Middle East, besides China, India and Mexico had suffered the consequences water scarcity? About 97.5% of water, distributed in seas and oceans, available on the planet is salty. Only 2.5% is fresh water and is available in glaciers and aquifers (underground reservoir) and 0.007% of planet has fresh water distributed on the surface of rivers and lakes, etc.

That the lack of sanitation (understand as dirty water) is responsible for 1,7 million deaths per year, it is like 10 Jumbo air plane fell everyday and 90% of the “passengers” were children.

Almost 70% of fresh water cosumed is used in agriculture and one sixth of population, about 1 billion people, had suffered with threat of drought and desertification. The embezzlement of rivers, as solution to combat the drought brings serious damages for the people and the whole environment.

In United States, about 10 billions of daipers are used every year. It estimated that almost 4% of north-american solid waste are diapers and manage an annual cost of 100 million dollars.

One cow produces about 378 litters of methane gas per day, and this gas contributes in 12% of global warming. Adding with landfills, animal waste, sewage water can reach 27.6% of methane dumped in the atmosphere.

More than 240 million tires, only in US, are dumped every year and only 7% of all is recycled, others 11% are incinerated and 5% are exported. The rest 77% are discarded in landfills. The estimate is more than 2 billions of tires had been accumulated all over the country. Other countries like Brazil, China, India also suffer this problem.

According with the Inventory of Emissions of Greenhouse Gases in São Paulo city (2003/2005), organized in accordance by the rules of Intergovernamental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), NU, the biggest city in Latin America, issues about 15.738.241 tons of CO2 (carbon dioxide) per year and the other source of carbon dioxide is the production of solid waste.

Pollution and lack of sanitation, deforestation, fire and disorderly and predatory advancement of agricultural crops and livestock, desertification, scarcity of water and global warming, are just some indicatives that Earth needs our help.
