Agency is looking for new people with different
opinions and backgrounds to help improve
the south west environment.
Applications are invited for two key regional
committees, which offer the chance for members
to play a truly active role in their local
community.
One committee advises on the overall environment
protection of the region’s land, air and
water and the other gives advice on maintaining,
improving and developing fisheries, advising
on conservation, ecology, recreation and
navigation issues.
Both committees are statutory and provide
advice and direction, linking the Environment
Agency with the people affected by its work.
Each committee aims to reflect the diversity
of the region and meets four times a year,
usually in Exeter, in office hours. Committee
members are not paid, although they are
reimbursed for travelling expenses and,
in appropriate cases, are entitled to financial
loss allowance.
Nominations from organisations and individual
applications are welcomed. Candidates should
live in the Environment Agency’s south west
region, which covers Cornwall, Devon, Dorset,
Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire
and most of Wiltshire.

us safeguard and enhance the south west
environment. We are looking for a wide range
of members to reflect the diversity of the
region. There are lots of positives for
those appointed including self-development
and a great sense of achievement,"
said Martin Booth for the Environment Agency.
