Agency Wales is investigating a pollution
incident that occurred over the weekend (8
May). The incident was first reported by a
member of the public who was walking over
the River Ely bridge near the Royal Glamorgan
Hospital.
More than 1,000 fish have been killed. The
source of the pollution has not yet been established.
Samples of the dead fish have been sent for
analysis and investigations are continuing.
A report on the findings will be prepared
for consideration by the legal department.
John Harrison, Environment Manager for the
Taff Ely area said: "We would welcome
calls from any member of the public who saw
something unusual in the River Ely over the
weekend. This could help us piece together
when and where the incident started. We are
also reminding members of the public not to
remove or handle any dead fish found in this
area."
