Wales and Wrexham County Borough Council have joined
forces to tackle fly-tipping in Wrexham with the
Environmental Crimewatch initiative.
As part of this initiative there
will be a campaign of surveillance, enforcement
and the installation of signage at fly-tipping hotspots
warning people that fly-tipping is illegal and anyone
found committing these offences will be prosecuted.
The signage being installed tells
people what can happen to them if they fly-tip their
waste, and also provides contact numbers so that
anyone who witnesses a flytipping incident can report
it. These sites will be monitored regularly. The
warning to all people is - do not dump your waste,
or you may find yourself in court.
Following on the from the successful
clean up of Glascoed Road, Brymbo where a number
of parties came together under the Environmental
Crimewatch, more work is now being planned to tackle
other fly-tipping ‘hotspots’.

for the Environment Agency said "Environmental
Crimewatch is a project determined to tackle the
issue of flytipping and by working with Wrexham
County Borough Council the two organisations can
put all the necessary effort into stopping this
problem in Wrexham. There are facilities provided
for the disposal of waste and so there is no excuse
for anyone to fly-tip. If you act irresponsibly
and fly-tip then be prepared to face serious enforcement
action."

Chief Housing and Public Protection Officer Andrew
Lewis said; "We will be actively monitoring
all fly-tipping sites throughout the Borough. There
are no excuses for tipping waste in these locations.
Fly tipping is a criminal activity which carries
fines of up to £20,000."
