OTTAWA, January 28, 2008 - Canada's Environment Minister John Baird today announced the appointment of Anthony Dale and Elizabeth Brubaker to the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (NRTEE). These appointments are effective immediately.

"These appointees bring with them a wealth of experience and expertise that will complement the work that the Round Table does," said Minister Baird. "Their abilities make them ideal choices to assist the Roundtable in its work and help push the NRTEE agenda forward."

NRTEE is dedicated to exploring new opportunities to integrate environmental conservation and economic development in order to sustain Canada's prosperity and secure its future. Its mandate has been enhanced to provide advice to the Government on Turning the Corner: An Action Plan to Reduce Greenhouse Gases and Air Pollution.

NRTEE was created in October, 1988, and its independent role and mandate were enshrined in the National Round Table on the Environment and Economy Act. Its members are drawn from distinguished leaders in business, labour, universities, environmental organizations, Aboriginal communities and municipalities.
