Research Institute at Aarhus University
is one of the main forces behind a new European
Topic Centre to assist and advise the EU
on climate adaptation in Europe using, among
others, experiences from the Danish Climate
Adaptation Portal.
A European Topic Centre
to advise and assist the European Environment
Agency and the European Commission on climate
adaptation issues in Europe has seen the
light of day. The Centre consists of 10
European institutes and over the next three
years it will assist the EEA in communicating
information on climate relevant data and
information on climate adaptation.
The National Environmental
Research Institute at Aarhus University
is together with Koordineringsenhed for
Forskning i Klimatilpasning (KFT) (‘Coordination
Unit for Research into Climate Adaptation’,
KFT) among the main participants and is
responsible for the knowledge sharing activities.
NERI and KFT are to ensure that the Adaptation
Clearinghouse for Europe (ACE) currently
under development will be a success and
that it reflects the EU Commission’s prioritized
efforts within the area.
Danish
experiences regarding information on climate
adaptation and experiences from the Danish
Climate Adaptation Portal are particular
important within this context.
